Peninsula New Horizons Band Kick-Off Sept. 17

The Peninsula New Horizons Band program was developed for adults in Door County who wish to learn to play a band instrument, or re-learn an instrument they used to play. For new students interested in trying out different instruments, the Peninsula New Horizons Band kick-off is from 4 to 6 pm on Sept. 17 at Bay View Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay.

A number of different instruments will be available to learn about and try; during this session, students will learn and play woodwind, brass and percussion instruments.

At 6 pm, a simple potluck dinner will be provided for prospective and all current students.

Paula Eggert, music instructor for brass instruments and director of the Peninsula Symphonic Community Band, will serve as the band’s conductor. Kathy Krauss will be the instructor for woodwind instruments.

Classes and lessons cost $10 per week for the length of the session; some extra materials may be useful but are at the student’s choice. The fall classes are on Thursdays from mid-September through early December.
