1,080 More Trees Planted

The Climate Change Coalition (CCC) of Door County’s Fall Big Plant and Grow giveaway project donated a total of 1,080 trees to church, business, school and nonprofit partners.

The program wrapped Oct. 7 with the planting of a final 180 trees at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay.

Community plantings took place at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ Mud Lake site in Baileys Harbor with help from Destination Door County and the Forest Recovery Project, as well as at Crossroads.

Planting trees is one of the most effective ways to help the environment. Trees provide essential habitat, clear pollution from the air, prevent soil erosion, protect groundwater and reduce energy consumption through windbreaks and shading.
