Successful Basic Needs Drive at Boys & Girls Club of Door County

Red ribbons and brightly colored paper wrapped up the Boys & Girls Club of Door County’s “Basic Needs” drive on Dec. 11. Community volunteers spent more than two hours wrapping tables full of donated items that will be distributed to 58 families throughout Door County.

“We were overjoyed by the response this year,” said Door County Boys & Girls Club CEO Julie Davis. “So many supporters, as well as brand-new friends, walked into our Third Avenue building carrying bags of new items for our members in need this holiday season. We hope these gifts help bring some warmth and comfort to start a new year.”

Club members, ranging in age from kindergarten through high school, will receive coats, blankets, cookware, or gift cards for groceries, depending on their circumstances. “All requests for assistance are treated with the utmost respect and confidentiality,” Davis confirmed.

With the gifts wrapped and boxed, the Boys & Girls Club staff is excited to deliver the presents, and will partner with the Sturgeon Bay Police and Fire Departments to bring the boxes to recipients in the next two weeks. For more information visit bgcdoorcounty.org.
