Private Pesticide Applicator Training Class Scheduled for Feb. 11

A Private Pesticide Applicator Training class will be held on Feb. 11 at the Government Center in Sturgeon Bay. This class is intended for persons requiring certification or re-certification in order to apply restricted-use pesticides. A private applicator is a person applying pesticides to produce an agricultural product (including forestry, nursery or greenhouse) on land owned or rented by the person or the person’s employer. Required for private applicators who apply restricted use pesticides. Certification is good for five years. There’s a choice of either attending a classroom training or self-study.

The classroom session will be from 9 am to 3:30 pm in the Peninsula Room. To attend, purchase the manual at the UW-Extension office by Feb. 4. The cost is $30 payable to UW-Extension. Lunch will be available at a cost of $5/person.

To take the exam without attending the classroom session, you still need to purchase the manual at least one week in advance and set up a time to take the exam at the Extension office. The Door County UW-Extension office is open Monday to Friday, 8 am – 4:30 pm. For more information call 920.746.2263.
