Washington Island Whitefish Heading to IL for Fish Boil Fest

The second annual Washington Island Fish Boil Festival (WIFF) at FitzGerald’s in Berwyn, Ill., is scheduled for Feb. 6. Ken Koyen (KK), Julian Hagen, boil helpers, kettles, firewood, Whitefish with trimmings, Jerry Mann’s brats, and guitars will be leaving the Island for a journey to Berwyn. Fisherman KK will come ashore to conduct one of his famous Island Whitefish Boils, featuring his freshly caught Whitefish, red potatoes, and onions, all boiled in a large kettle over an open wood fire, served with butter, coleslaw and dessert. Last year, more than 200 meals were served and approximately 340 happy people attended.

A “Fiddlers Green” style jam session will take place throughout the evening. An evening show/dance starts at 7:30 pm in the big room on the main stage.

This event takes place at FitzGerald’s, located at 6615 Roosevelt Road, Berwyn, Ill. Doors open at 3:30 pm and food service begins at 4:30 pm. Music runs throughout the evening. Admission to the music, prizes and fun is $15. The cost for the fish boil dinner is an additional $17. Admission for 12 years old and under is free.
