Sign Up to Be The Match at Gibraltar Student Council/Red Cross Blood Drive

The Gibraltar High School Student Council and the Red Cross have collaborated to bring northern Door County another opportunity to save lives at a blood drive and a Be The Match donor registration event. The blood drive will be held in the Door Community Auditorium on Feb. 1, 9 am – 2 pm. An appointment is needed. Leave a message at 920.868.3284, ext. 244. Clearly state your name, phone number, and best time of day to donate. A student council member will return your call to confirm time. In addition to the Blood Drive, there will be a Be The Match registration. Every three minutes, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer, and patients are searching for a cure by registering with Be The Match. Learn more at bethematch.org or stop by the Be The Match registration booth any time during the blood drive.

Locally, Collin Duffy, a sophomore at Gibraltar, is battling a rare blood disease called Aplastic Anemia. He may need a bone marrow transplant and is still looking for a perfect match. If you are between the ages of 18 and 44 and in good health, stop by the Be The Match booth during the blood drive and register. All it takes is a simple cheek swab to collect DNA.
