Re-Learn to Play an Instrument with Peninsula New Horizons Band

As more Door County adults retire and find time on their hands, they are frequently re-discovering old hobbies and pastimes. The Peninsula New Horizons Band (PNHB) program was developed for adults who wish to learn to play a band instrument, or re-learn an instrument they used to play.

Classes are fun and informal, and provide a nice opportunity to mix with like-minded adults who love band music and instruments. For students that wish to learn and play woodwind, brass and percussion instruments, the PNHB’s Spring 2016 semester is 15 weeks long. Lessons and classes are every Thursday from Feb. 4 – May 19, 6:30 – 8:30 pm, at Bay View Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay.

Founding member Paula Eggert, music instructor for brass instruments and director of the Peninsula Symphonic Community Band, serves as PNHB’s conductor. Also a founding member, Kathy Krauss will be the instructor for woodwind instruments. Anika Enger and Mark Fischer continue as additional instructors for students playing brass instruments. Both are active members of the Peninsula Symphonic Band.

Classes and lessons cost $10 per week for the length of the semester. For more information and to download an application form, visit NewHorizonsBandDoorCo.com, find “Peninsula New Horizons Band” on Facebook, or call 920.724.1235.
