Hike to Find the Birches at Crossroads’ Ida Bay

Join the Crossroads at Big Creek naturalist for the “Birches at Ida Bay” hike on Feb. 24 at 10 am. At Crossroads’ Ida Bay Preserve the birch trees are particularly striking. The hike will depart from the Zenith Street entrance, but if the snow is extremely deep, participants are invited to stop by the maintenance building at Crossroads at 9:30 am to borrow a pair of snowshoes before driving to the preserve. This hike is free and open to the public.

Crossroads’ Ski For Free program continues on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 – 3:30 pm. The program lends, free of charge, an array of ski and snowshoe equipment in sizes to fit age 3 through large adult. When trail conditions permit, go to the Crossroads Maintenance Building and volunteers will fit the equipment, share a few pointers and a trail map.

The Collins Learning Center at Crossroads, open 2 – 4:30 pm daily, is located at 2041 Michigan in Sturgeon Bay. Trails at Crossroads, Big Creek Cove and our Ida Bay Preserve are free and open to the public. When there is snow, walkers are asked to avoid designated ski trails.
