15 Years of Backpack Buddies

As this school year ends, the Backpack Buddy Program will complete 15 years of serving Door County children. 

More than 8,400 lunch bags containing five food items each were packed this school year at the local nonprofit Feed & Clothe My People of Door County and sent home weekly with children who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Fifteen volunteers put in 470 volunteer hours to pack the bags and deliver them to 291 area children.
