18th Annual Newport Wilderness Day

Join in for a full day of interpretive activities at Newport State Park, Wisconsin’s first wilderness park, on Sunday, August 31. All programs are for the public and sponsored by the Newport Wilderness Society, the volunteer friends group for the park since July 1985. All programs, approximately an hour in length, will be held rain or shine. The Hotz Wilderness Room at the Visitor Center will be open from 9 am – 5 pm.

Special Activities Include:

10 am: Geology, Jack Travis at Lot #3

11 am: Hotz History Trail, Steve Uglinica at Europe Bay Road Park

1 pm: “Where Did All The Buildings Go?” Dr. Bill Scheckler at Hotz Wilderness Room

3 pm: Wildflower Meadow, Rolliana Scheckler at Hotz Wilderness Room

4 pm: “Was That a Wolf?” Michelle Hefty, Park Manager
