1st Annual Home Winemaker Competition Seeks Entries

Door Peninsula Winery is excited to announce their 1st Annual Home Winemaker Competition for Carlsville Day, Saturday, July 31. All home vintners are welcomed to enter their homemade wines for official judging. The results will be announced following the winery’s competitive grape stomp.

Wine entries are limited to a maximum of two entries per vintner. Entries will be judged in the following categories: red grape, white grape, and fruit/fruit blend.

“We expect the wines to be local, from homes in Wisconsin made with local fruits,” said event coordinator, Jamie Forest, “but we are accepting home wines from out of state. We know there are a lot of great little wines out there with winemakers anxious to share them…or at least share their stories.”

Door Peninsula Winery is receiving entries now until July 24. Entries must pass a simple, pre-qualifying round judged by Paul Santoriello, winemaker for Door Peninsula Winery, upon receipt. Once passed the pre-qualification, official closed judging by a panel of four will judge wine in appearance, aroma, body, taste and finish through a double blind tasting.

Prizes include certificates, winery gift cards, a Best of Show trophy, and an exclusive cellar tour and wine tasting.

Entry forms are available at http://www.dcwine.com. For more information call 800.551.5049.
