A public discussion of the $2.8 million Brussels-Union-Gardner (BUG) Fire Dept. referendum will be held for residents of all three communities at 7 pm on March 16 at the Southern Door High School Auditorium.
The April 5 advisory referendum requests authorization to borrow funds to build a new south Brussels, Union Gardner fire station on County C in Brussels and to construct an addition to the existing north Brussels, Union, Gardner fire station.
A Nov. 2014 referendum to approve $4.2 million for the fire station failed.
The south station is 47 years old, while the north fire station is 27 years old.
