2010 Door County Plein Air Festival Artists Receive Recognition

Two of the 42 artists participating in the upcoming 2010 Door County Plein Air Festival, July 19 – 24, have received notable distinctions recently. The festival, hosted by the Peninsula School of Art, in Fish Creek, invites nationally-recognized artists such as William Suys, of Milwaukee, and Colin Page, of Camden, ME.

Suys claimed two awards in the Cedarburg (Wisconsin) Plein Air Painting Competition recently. He received Best Quick Paint for “Alfresco at the Anvil,” and the People’s Choice Award for “The Briar Patch.” The Cedarburg competition is an open painting event drawing painters from across the United States.

The L.L. Bean company has chosen an oil painting by Colin Page, the 2009 People’s Choice Award recipient of the Door County Plein Air Festival, for the cover art of their newly-released 2010 summer catalog. The painting, entitled, “Camden Harbor,” offers a glimpse of Page’s hometown.
