2010 Thumbs Down

Thumbs Down

To the Supreme Court, which decided that corporations are not just considered humans in matters of the tax code, but in our elections as well. The result – even our state senate and assembly campaigns were flooded with obnoxious ads from organizations that would struggle to find Wisconsin on a map.

To all those banks that are so bad at being banks. The federal government pumped billions into the banking industry to encourage them to keep lending to businesses large and small, but most either used the money to pay down debt or for acquisitions of other financial entities.

To Facebook and YouTube, for sucking away at our souls and…(we meant to write more about it but we got distracted by a really funny video someone just posted on our Facebook page).

To representatives at all levels of government who talk about limiting the size of bureaucracy and public spending, but don’t stand up when regulations are enacted like those requiring pricy pool drain covers for public pools and the costly replacement of wooden street signs in Ephraim and Gibraltar. (Note to representatives, YOU ARE THE GOVERNMENT, you can do something about it.)
