2014 Door County Scottie Rally Raises $19,000

Since its inception in 2001 the Door County Scottie Rally has gathered Scottish Terriers, their families and fans from across the globe. The generosity of donors and attendees who have traveled from 38 states, Canada, South Africa and Australia are responsible for generating more than $175,000 for Scottie health research and Scottie rescue.

This year’s proceeds of $19,000 have been donated to aid in Scottie rescue to St. Louis Scottish Terrier Rescue, the Scottish Terrier Club of Michigan, North Texas Scottie Rescue, A New Start on Life and the Scottish Terrier Club of America. Since bladder cancer occurs 18 to 20 times more in the Scottish Terrier breed, support of research efforts have been targeting the identification of the gene responsible for bladder cancer. In addition to providing affordable ultrasound screenings, hundreds of canine blood samples collected each year at the Rally have been sent to the National Institutes of Health and enrollment in the Purdue Oncology Comparative Program for Bladder Cancer Research.

The 2015 dates for the Rally and Parade of Scots is May 15 – 16 in Baileys Harbor. For more information, visit, find them on Facebook, or call Tom Bronsky at 920.493.5878.
