2016 R.A.C.E. Fundraiser Features John Welch, Raffles and Car Show

The R.A.C.E. (Racing Annual Charity Event) Car Show will be held on April 9, 11 am – 5 pm, on S. Third Avenue in front of Butch’s Bar in Sturgeon Bay. The honorees this year will be Bette Sternard and Joe Paye, Sr.

Sternard was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2015, and started treatment in November. She received both chemo and radiation at once. Her last treatment was in January.

Paye was diagnosed in December 2015 with an aggressive tumor that only eight other people in the world have had. He had the tumor removed, but found that it had spread to his brain. It then spread to his spinal fluid. After many struggles, he passed away February 17. The event will benefit his family.

There will be DJ service by John Welch with live music to follow, a silent auction, door prizes, food beverages and a car show. Held rain or shine, the car show has the following classes: sport mod, stock cars, street stock, go-karts, motorcycles, original, rat rods, customs, and open dirt class. Registration for the car show is 9 am – 12 pm, with trophies awarded at 4 pm. Two Best of Show awards and one for each class will be presented.

Monetary donations can be sent to: Baylake Bank, 217 N 4th Ave, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. Donations can be made to the order of R.A.C.E.
