The Sister Bay Advancement Association (SBAA) has awarded the 2018 Fall Festival Parade Best Entry to Door County North, the business/community association for hamlets in the Town of Liberty Grove.
The inspiration for the float was the large mural created by the Ellison Bay Beautification Project across the street from the Door County North Visitor Center in Ellison Bay. The mural honors the area’s love for art, nature and is surrounded by a new green space featuring a butterfly garden. The goal was to be a human-powered float, using people-powered shopping carts covered with all-natural foliage collected with float participants wearing beautiful monarch butterfly wings.
Mickie Rasch, community coordinator for Door County North, accepted the award along with her team of butterflies and DC North/EBBP volunteers Cheryl Culver and Susan Larson.
In addition to the parade trophy, the SBAA will contribute in their name to the Ellison Bay Service Club, whose mission it is to enhance the lives and livelihood in the hamlet of Ellison Bay.
