The annual Jacksonport Thanksgiving Day parade and benefit on Nov. 28 will start at the Jacksonport Fire Station at 10:30 am. Now in its 23rd year, this fun-loving, eclectic parade continues its mission of neighbors helping neighbors through support for the Door County Secret Santa Project and Feed My People, Clothe My People.
The Secret Santa program began in 2012 to assist those who may need help keeping their homes warm during the winter, which “started very early this year, so there will be an increased need for support for far too many in our community,” said Mary Witteborg, parade committee chair. “We are so grateful for the tireless work being done by the Door County Secret Santa Project, led by Jane and Jennifer Lee.”
Colorfully dressed goats, horses and dogs will walk in the parade with humans in tow who will carry buckets to receive contributions to the causes. All of the money collected will go directly to the 2019 beneficiaries.
The Door County 4-H will also host a pancake breakfast at Island Fever Rum Bar starting at 9 am, with all proceeds going to the Door County Secret Santa Project.
Raffle tickets for a $500 and $300 Door County weekend package are available through parade time for $5 each or 5 for $20. You do not need to be present to win.Want to be in the parade? Arrive at the Jacksonport Fire Station by 9:45 am.
