2023 In County-Contracted Animal Care

The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) took in 415 cats, 84 dogs, and 5 other animals, all strays, on behalf of the County of Door in 2023. The county contracts with WHS to deal with strays, rabies, quarantines and law enforcement seizure of animals across the county. The service will cost the county $10,300 in 2024, with a 3% bump in that fee for 2025 under the two-year contract.

“They’re doing a really good job for us,” said Sean Donohue, county corporation counsel.
