30 Paintings in 30 Days at Door County’s PSA

Figurative oil painting by Shelby Keefe

Seven artists will display their month-long dedication to creating a painting a day in the exhibition “30 Paintings / 30 Days” from Nov. 11 through Dec. 30 at the Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek.

In conjunction with the exhibition, featured artist Susan Murtaugh will demonstrate her iPad finger-painting process beginning at 1 pm on Nov. 19 in the school’s Guenzel Gallery. Following the demonstration at 3 pm, many of the participating artists will engage in a discussion about how their commitment to the project has influenced their art.

Along with Murtaugh, the featured artists include Marla Baggetta, Shelby Keefe, Fred Bell, Kristi Roenning, Jason Prigge and Bonnita Budysz.

A range of styles, painting media and subject matter will be displayed. Included in the exhibition will be mixed media abstracts (Roenning), oils of figures in an urban setting (Keefe), oil self-portraits (Bell), oil plein air works of the Manitowoc River (Prigge), oils of single, small objects (Baggetta), and plein air oil studies of locations in Italy and Two Rivers (Budysz).

Statements placed alongside each of the artist’s installation will provide further insight into their experiences during the creation of 30 paintings in as many days.

Many of the works will be unframed and measure 12″ or less in any dimension, making purchases “buyer friendly.”

The Peninsula School of Art is located at 3900 Country Road F in Fish Creek. For more information call 920.868.3455 or email [email protected].
