30th Fish Creek Winter Festival: Fun for All

2017 marks the 30th year of Fish Creek Winter Festival, Feb. 3-5. Originally called Winter Games, the event was started in 1987 by a few Fish Creek personalities looking to have a little fun during the winter months.

The atmosphere of “winter merriment” and a fun lineup of games and activities bring people back to the festival year after year. The infamous Bicycle Toss, Minnow Races, Fruit Loop Fun-Run, Smokin’ Hot Chili Cook-Off and Stumpf Fiddle Contest are just a few activities festival goers have come to know and love from Winter Fest.

Visitors and residents look forward not only to their favorite Winter Festival activities, but also to new events and activities each year. Just a few of the additions to Fish Creek’s 30th Annual Winter Festival include: sled dog rides from Door County Sled Dogs, music from Bacchus Lotus, a new raffle grand prize, an all-inclusive ice kickball hosted by Friends of Gibraltar and an extended Stumpf Fiddle Contest.

“It’s such a feel-good festival,” said FCCA Board President and Winter Festival Chair Bob Spielman said. “Everyone’s just there to throw bikes, race minnows, drink beer and have a great time! There’s literally an activity for everyone at Winter Fest. You really can’t go wrong.”
