33 Classes to Choose from in The Clearing’s 2016 Program

The Clearing Folk School introduces this year’s schedule of diverse one- and two-day summer and fall Workshop Program classes. Classes begin June 14 and run through Nov. 19.

Multiple disciplines of classes in the arts, fine crafts, natural sciences and humanities are offered. Write from your life experiences with Wisconsin historical author Jerry Apps or geologist/author/performer Roger Kuhns. In addition, Kuhns will bring the geologic history of the Niagara Escarpment alive, naturalist Paul Regnier will teach the basics of birding, and Beth Coleman will present two one-day classes on Mindfulness: Growing a Lifelong Practice. Learn to draw expressive portraits with Kate Roth. Paint with pastels, acrylics, oils or watercolors. Use your iPhone to capture and enhance incredible images or create a glass mosaic utilizing color and design. Weave in the multi-cultural tradition of Backstrap Weaving. Perhaps the age-old beauty of bonsai (miniature tree sculpting) peaks your interest? Wood turning and carving classes will create original handcrafted pieces. Paper marbling allows you to play with patterns and design, or create the gift of seeded paper that blooms. And, of course, you will need a tote bag, so come and make one. In all, 33 intriguing classes to choose from. Pre-registration for classes is required.
