33rd Annual Door County Folk Festival Features Ethnic Dance Parties

The 33rd Annual Door County Folk Festival will be held July 11 – 15 in Baileys Harbor, Sister Bay, Ephraim, and Fish Creek. This festival presents a fun-filled and educational dance/music weekend with participants from around the world. The festival offers an extended weekend of dancing, singing, learning, networking, eating, partying and making friends in a congenial, relaxed community atmosphere.

Most of the festival events are designed for audience participation with heritage dances and songs of America’s ethnic groups. The workshop schedule includes opportunities to learn traditional American Contra and Square Dances, Ethnic Folk Dances and songs from other cultures. Workshops are designed for participants with little or no experience as well as those with intermediate and advanced skills.

The schedule includes two culture sessions, four free sessions of outdoor youth activities, and a traditional Door County Fish Boil dinner. There will be ethnic dance parties every night (Wednesday through Sunday), including an additional Contra/Square Dance party on Friday. Nick Bratkovich, Orkestar Sloboda and the Last Gaspé provide live Music.

As a community service, the festival provides two mini-concerts for seniors groups, a dance and creativity program for youths from the Northern Door YMCA day camp, and runs a Silent Auction to support its Work Scholar Program.
