Notes from the Grove

Welcome to the Notes from the Grove, providing Liberty Grove residents and visitors tid bits of information about goings on in town government.

• The Health, Safety and Welfare Committee is continuing to work on a Well Head Protection Ordinance for the town. In addition the Town Board will have a telephone conference on July 21 with Kevin Masarik, UW-Stevens Point. He has developed a well-testing program.

• The IT Committee has been in contact with UWGB and NWTC to investigate what student programs might be available to assist the town in addressing high speed internet in Liberty Grove. Both have indicated an interest and willingness to work with the town. The committee is also looking for additional members. Anyone interested should contact the Town Office.

• The board has asked the Town Crew to make a small entrance to the recently purchased Garrett Bay property so that the board and appropriate committees can get a better idea of how to address the parking and safety issues at the ramp area. Caution signs are in place, but better parking needs to be established. They have also been spraying the poison ivy in that area as it is wide spread.

• The Harbor Committee will be sending a recommendation to the Town Board to change its name to the Waterfront Committee. It has also developed a Mission Statement that will be sent to the board as well.

• If a mutually agreeable date can be established the town and Village of Sister Bay will participate in a joint paper/document shredding project available to residents.

• The Plan Commission is looking into identifying historic structures and the possibility of establishing Historic Districts within the town or some form of recognition. They hope to work with the Liberty Grove Historical Society on identifying buildings and develop a plan.

• A reminder that the Board of Review will be held on August 18 at 1 pm. The summer “Listening Session” is scheduled for August 25 at 7 pm. Both will be held at the Town Hall.
