• The Village of Sister Bay completed the purchase of the Al Johnson’s Butik and marina property July 22. Two of Al Johnson’s children, Lars and Rolf, along with Al’s widow, Ingert signed over the waterfront property. The village purchased the property for $5 million from the Johnsons in an agreement before Al Johnson died in June. The purchase will allow the village to connect the village marina to Waterfront Park.

• The Harbor Fish market and Grille in Baileys Harbor was featured in a USA Today article about high-end restaurants that allow patrons to dine with their dogs. Visit and search for “Harbor Fish Market” to view the article.

• The Village of Egg Harbor is looking at additional options to create a shoulder or walking trail for pedestrians along the south side of South Trail Road. The narrow road that connects Highway 42 to the Egg Harbor beach has no shoulders. The proposed path could require carving several feet into the bluff-side that abuts the road, and some community residents expressed concerns about disturbing the Niagara Escarpment. The village created a trail along County G last year for pedestrians.
