When Griffin, a sweet older dog, arrived at the shelter in early August covered with adult and juvenile fleas, he was in misery. After a quick vet consultation, the kennel staff initiated soothing balms and a gentle but thorough bath. Griffin is doing very well now. Although he is a darling mix of several breeds, he has been designated a Setter/Airedale/Retriever. The adopting family is free to come up with their own analysis! Griffin, a stray from the Clark Lake area, is 10 to 12 years old. He is deaf, but that does not appear to be a hindrance as Griffin is happy to meet everyone. At 43 pounds, Griffin needs to add a few pounds by being spoiled in his new home. Adoption fee is $90 – a senior discount down from $120.

Residing in a cat condo in the lobby of the Humane Society, Scribbles has been at the shelter since December 20, 2010. She was a stray from Sturgeon Bay, an affectionate calico girl, probably two to four years old. Scribbles shares her condo with three other cats so she could adapt to a household with cats already in residence. Her beautiful green eyes scan the lobby looking for the family that will look right back and see the perfect pet.

Adoption costs are $85 for cats and kittens, $120 for dogs, and $60 for puppies. All animals are vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. Dogs have had a behavioral assessment.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD)
in Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon – 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111 or visit http://www.doorcountyhumanesociety.org.

Bark in the Park will take place Saturday, Aug. 27 at Sunset Park, Third Avenue in Sturgeon Bay beginning at 9 am! The cost is $25 per person or $50 for a family. All proceeds benefit the Door County Humane Society.
