It’s the end of “Be Kind to Animals Week” for 2012, but the goal carries throughout the other 51 weeks of the year. All animals deserve humane consideration – there is no gray area; it’s truly black and white. So with that segue, here are two of many black and white cats currently available at the Door County Humane Society (DCHS).

Spot with the distinctive face is only one-and-a-half years old, so she will be a sweet companion for many years to come. Two-year-old Titus was brought to the shelter in late March; he’s been neutered and is ready for a new adventure. All DCHS cats are up to date with vaccinations and have been micro-chipped. Thirty days of pet insurance is free with each adoption.

Adoption costs are $90 for cats and kittens, $150 for dogs, and $60 for puppies. All animals are vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. Dogs have had a behavioral assessment.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD) in Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon – 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111 or visit http://www.doorcountyhumanesociety.org.

A DCHS Rummage Sale will take place May 11 from noon – 5 pm and May 12 from 7:30 am – 5 pm at the JayCee Building off 12th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay. There is a $5 donation.

DCHS will also have a booth set up at the Scottie Rally in Baileys Harbor on May 19.
