While the back corridors of the Humane Society are filling up with kittens, kittens, kittens, most of them are not yet available. Before they can be adopted, kittens must be spayed or neutered, and be 4 months old to receive their distemper and rabies shots. From the newest to the most veteran residents.

The two cats that have been at the shelter the longest are an inky black pair known as Anora and Ape. They are brother and sister, found on the Door/Kewaunee county line in Forestville and brought to us on a frosty day in January 2010. Each was probably born in July 2009, so they have spent three-fourths of their young lives at the Humane Society. Ape and Anora are in our lobby, roaming free so as to be the first to greet potential adopters. It is the hope of all DCHS staff and volunteers that these two cats will know the warmth of a family home before too many more months pass by.

Adoption costs are $90 for cats and kittens, $150 for dogs, and $60 for puppies. All animals are vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. Dogs have had a behavioral assessment.
