Pitta is one of the many cats waiting to be adopted.

Scads of cats grace the lobby of the shelter, and there are many new ones waiting in the wings. June is Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat month, and to celebrate there’s a month-long adoption fee reduction now in effect. Rather than the regular cost of $90, Door County Humane Society has dropped the adoption cost to only $30 for a fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and micro-chipped cat three years of age or older. There are many sweet, hopeful cats ready to say hello when you walk in the door. Often our cats choose their new families and it makes for a wonderful relationship. Adoption charge for cats younger than three years remains at $90.

Humble

Amblin’ up a Town of Egg Harbor road recently was this hound dog who now has been named Humble. He is an absolute treasure of a guy, happy to see the shelter staff and volunteers when it’s walk time. Humble is 9 – 10 years old, probably a Black & Tan Coonhound with a bit of Beagle. Neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped, Humble is ready to stroll anywhere on a leash with his new family. Adoption cost is $150.

Adoption costs are $90 for cats and kittens (currently $30 special rate), $150 for dogs, and $60 for puppies. All animals are vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. Dogs have had a behavioral assessment.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD) in Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon – 4 pm; they will be closed Memorial Day. For more information call 920.746.1111 or visit http://www.doorcountyhumanesociety.org.

Door County Humane Society will host a Micro-chip Clinic on June 23 from 10 am – 2 pm at the new Harbor Hounds Dog Park, located on Church Street in Egg Harbor. The cost is $25 per pet. Refreshments will be served as part of the grand opening.
