Merkey

Animals have distinct personalities, and discovering those likes and dislikes is part of the fun of pet ownership. Here at the Humane Society, we are constantly learning more about the homeless animals in our charge.

Merkey is a long-haired, front declawed lady who disdains dogs. She really does not like dogs in any form but Merkey has a big heart for people. She is seven years old, a surrender when her owner entered a nursing home.

Athena

Entering our kennel this month was Athena, a blue heeler/cattle dog. Athena was surrendered recently as a seven-month-old puppy who cheerfully entertains herself with a full bin of toys. Athena also regards cats as squeaky toys, so she is destined for a home where she is the only animal. This beautiful blue heeler will fill your heart and home with affection and fun. Athena was spayed last week, vaccinated and micro-chipped, so she is ready to be adopted.

Adoption costs are $90 for cats and $150 for dogs. All animals are vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed or neutered. Dogs have had a behavioral assessment.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD) in Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon to 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111, visit http://www.doorcountyhumanesociety.org or “Like” the Door County Humane Society on Facebook.
