Placing Sutton is the goal of the Door County Humane Society staff this week. This big loveable Lab mix isn’t one for fashionable addresses. He just wants someone to walk beside, a place to stretch his legs, and then a warm bed inside at night.

Sutton has been at the shelter since July 11. Coming from Southern Door, it was apparent he’d been outside for quite a while. With a dirty, bramble-filled coat and several damaged teeth, Sutton was not the sleek handsome guy he is now. In the past months, he has been neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped.

At eight years of age, Sutton is still a champion chaser of tennis balls, and this summer he adored the wading pool in the outdoor fenced kennel area. He’s a Lab through and through. If a large, extroverted, loyal, and laid back dog is what your family has been missing, here he is.

Adoption costs are $90 for cats and $150 for dogs.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD) in Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon to 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111, visit or “Like” the Door County Humane Society on Facebook.

Bleach, scoopable cat litter, dog treats and paper towels are always needed at the shelter. Thank you!
