One small-but-special animal at the Door County Humane Society (DCHS) is Cagney. It’s rare for a small dog to be at the shelter, and he is a cutie! Recently surrendered, Cagney is a two-year-old male Yorkie/Chihuahua. He’s just wild about his squeaky toys and people who pet him. Once you get started, Cagney will persist in pushing your hand to keep the attention coming. He’s 6.7 lbs. of personality plus. How about a home for Cagney by Christmas?

Adoption costs are $90 for cats and $150 for dogs. Every animal is spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, and micro-chipped. Free 30 days of pet insurance after adoption may be continued at owner’s option.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD) in Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon to 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111, visit http://www.doorcountyhumanesociety.org or “Like” the Door County Humane Society on Facebook.

Pet Photos with Santa will take place on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Door County Co-op, beginning at 10 am for a $5 donation to DCHS.

Construction has begun on the expansion of the DCHS, which will affect the parking and entrance routines at the shelter. Visitors and volunteers are asked to be alert to the signage to maintain safety. The humane society will be closed on Monday, Nov. 26 as water lines are relocated. It will open again for adoptions on Wednesday, Nov. 28. Work on the new addition and renovation of the existing facility is anticipated to be completed in late June 2013.
