Opie

Opie resembles that kid from Mayberry – he’s bright, funny, curious and affectionate. What he doesn’t have yet is that special family to walk with down the lane or accompany on a fishing trip. Opie came to the shelter last month as a stray from Baileys Harbor. He’s a 2-year-old Terrier/Pit Bull mix with a wonderfully extroverted personality. Now neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped, Opie loves to meet new people and play in the fenced yard at the shelter.

The Humane Society will offer a microchip clinic for pets during the Spring Fling in Baileys Harbor on May 18 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Town Hall. Tags and collars can get lost, but for just $25 your pet will be protected in the most secure way. A microchip is a tiny capsule inserted between the animal’s shoulder blades, providing permanent identification security. Virtually all shelters and veterinarians have universal chip readers that will immediately give the animal’s name and owner contact information. DCHS is proud to offer this service to all pet owners. Please bring proof of current rabies vaccination with you.

Adoption costs are $90 for cats and $150 for dogs. All animals are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated and micro-chipped.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD) in Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon – 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111 or visit http://www.dooranimals.com.

The all-you-can-eat soup buffet at Spring Fling on May 18 will benefit the Door County Humane Society.
