Tiger

When family dynamics or outside forces determine that an animal must be surrendered, the Door County Humane Society (DCHS) is here to help. We appreciate that the cat or dog is brought to us where we can provide care, vet attention and a thorough vetting of potential adopters. No judgments are made; just call us at 746.1111 to begin a surrender process.

Intelligent, caramel-colored eyes look back at you in a calm but inquisitive way the first time you meet Tiger. Born in December 2007, Tiger was with one family for 5 ½ years in Baileys Harbor. Last month he was surrendered to the Humane Society because his owners were moving. This is a substantial cat who has done well living with children and dogs.

Little Bear

The cuteness quotient rose perceptively when Little Bear was surrendered to the shelter last month. What a face on this 1 ½-year-old English Cocker Spaniel mix! The health of her former owner compelled a difficult decision but the DCHS staff and volunteer dog walkers delight in seeing Little Bear every day. She is a social, happy dog with many years ahead to be a best friend.

Adoption costs are $90 for cats and $150 for dogs. All animals are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD), Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon – 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111 or visit dooranimals.com.

The silent auction for a hand-painted umbrella at Linger Coffee House in Fish Creek wraps up July 6; the auction benefits DCHS.

A brat fry for the shelter takes place July 6, 10 am – 2 pm, at Econofoods in Sturgeon Bay.
