Jake

Each cat and dog that arrives at the shelter makes an impression on us; sometimes that’s how their name is chosen. Often we see the animals display their individual personalities as they become more confident and assured they are safe.

Our 8-year-old Bassett/Beagle Jake made his mark in a truly concrete way…footprints in the new walkway leading to the entrance doors. When the concrete was poured last week, one dog and one cat were selected to walk along the fresh surface so darling paw prints would forever be in the walk. Jake did a perfect job, and he was proud to be of help.

Jake’s former owner went into a nursing home, and he is hoping for a quiet home with an older couple or single gentleman. He loves walking with volunteers and snoozing on the couch.

Owen

Owen is a Rileys Bay-area surrender who arrived at the shelter last month. He’s only 1½-years-old, and ready for lots of new adventures in a family home. Owen is a mellow, orange marmalade cat with chartreuse-colored eyes. He was surrendered with several other cats, and enjoys being with company.

Adoption costs are $90 for cats and $150 for dogs. All animals are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD), Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon – 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111 or visit dooranimals.com.
