One of the year’s most delightful and important fundraisers for the Door County Humane Society is only one week away. It’s “Bark By The Bay” on Aug. 24, stepping off at 9 am in Martin Park on Third Avenue and Oregon Street in Sturgeon Bay. It’s a new location for a classic event, as well as the addition of a micro-chip clinic and nail trimming for all our canine pals. The registration fee is $25, which entitles the dog and owner to walk with us, visit the vendors, and then relax with a brat lunch, music and awards.

All dogs four months and older with a current rabies vaccination are welcome. It’s an informal, fun morning filled with pet lovers from all around the Midwest. The money raised goes straight into the shelter’s day-to-day operating fund to pay for food, spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations and staff care.

Roo

A social and outgoing dog like our 3-year-old American Blue Heeler Roo would love to come to “Bark By The Bay.” Wouldn’t it be wonderful if he were adopted in time to walk with the group?

Adoption costs are $90 for cats and $150 for dogs. All animals are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated and micro-chipped.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD) in Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon – 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111 or visit dooranimals.com.
