Three large orange “O” cats are keeping colony #6 a lively place. From their perches, Orbison, Owen and Orson enjoy the company of our volunteers and visitors. These three were surrendered in June from an owner in the Rileys Bay area of Southern Door. Orson is 5 to 6 years old, while Orbison and Owen are only 1 to 2 years old. All three are mellow, laid-back guys. They can be adopted as individuals or in tandem.

Brightening up the kennel area with her special smile is Sophia, a 5-year-old Foxhound/Beagle mix. This intelligent, agile girl is an expert ball player and a “dream walking on a leash” say the humane society volunteers. Sophia was surrendered from the Sister Bay area. She is a beautiful dog, full of affection, but missing the warmth of a family home.

The two-for-one cat adoption special of $90 is still under way, and the dog adoption fee is $150. All animals are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD) in Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon – 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111 or visit dooranimals.com.

There is a significant need for volunteers at the shelter, especially to assist with cat care. If you have time to help homeless animals, call volunteer coordinator Sarah Ewaskowitz, 920.746.1111, ext. 5.
