6,500 Residents Now Have 1 Dose of Vaccine

Though vaccines for COVID-19 have shipped slower than originally hoped, Door County has made significant progress getting people their first dose.

Through Friday, Feb. 12, 6,500 people in Door County had received a first dose of the vaccine, or 17.4 percent of all residents. Six percent have received both doses.

Door County Medical Center announced Friday that it was receiving fewer doses than it planned on next week, which means many appointments will be rescheduled. The hospital will receive just 100 first doses next week.

“If you are one of those affected and we do not reach you, we will leave a message with instructions on how to contact us if you need more information,” said a hospital statement. “Once you receive your first dose of the vaccine, your second dose appointment will be scheduled for you. At this point, we are confident that if you have already received your first dose at one of our clinics prior to today, your second dose appointment remains valid.”
