Labrador Retrievers bring an affectionate, easygoing nature and fun-loving personality to their families. Dempsey is just such a dog, and he became an instant favorite of the volunteer dog walkers at the Humane Society. Found along Loritz Road in Jacksonport last month, Dempsey quickly found the play pool in the shelter’s fenced area, and then engaged staff members to throw the tennis ball again and again for him.

This is a big, beautiful guy, only 2-4 years old and 85 lbs. This week, Dempsey was neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. If you are seeking the ideal dog for a growing family, come meet Dempsey. The dog adoption fee is $150.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD – the road to Potawatomi State Park), Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon – 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111 or visit dooranimals.com.

All dogs and their owners are invited to Bark by the Bay on Aug. 23 at Martin Park, Sturgeon Bay. Registration is $25. Check-in begins at 9 am, and the walk starts at 10 am.
