The declawed cats room

The Door County Humane Society has an entire colony room dedicated to declawed cats. Some are surrendered cats, others are strays saved from the streets. It’s not a procedure recommended by the Humane Society, but cat declawing continues. Owners may have the front two paws declawed or opt for the more radical removal of claws from all four feet. This removes the cat’s ability to scratch, cling to items, or defend itself effectively. If you’ve been considering a companion cat, and need a declawed animal to meet rental or other requirements, please say hello to the variety of new friends in colony #6 at DCHS. Cat adoption fee is $90.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD – the road to Potawatomi State Park), Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon – 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111 or visit dooranimals.com.
