How do we explain that the Dutch are the tallest people on the planet? The average adult male is six feet tall, while the average Dutch female is five feet six inches. The data obtained by examining a database of 94,516 people also revealed that taller Dutch men produce more children than men of average height, and more of their offspring survive. This appears to enhance spread of tallness genes. On the other hand, in the U.S., tall men do not produce more children than men of average height. No one knows why the Dutch are different.
