Aubrey’s Attic follows nine-year-old Aubrey as she prepares for a local history play. When she goes rifling for costumes in the attic of the Trading Post, a real-life historical site on the Fox River in Butte des Morts, Wis., she finds much more than dust and trunks of forgotten clothes. Aubrey and her friend, Tilisha, discover that Tilisha’s ancestor was hidden at the Trading Post when it was a stop on the Underground Railroad. However, Tilisha’s ancestor disappeared without a trace. Will the attic hold the answer to what happened or will it remain a mystery forever?

Thorpe grew up in southwest Wisconsin, and was a school psychologist for four years and taught for thirty-two years at the grade school, middle school and college levels.
