A Digital Scavenger Hunt and The Ridges

The Ridges and the Door County YMCA are offering a program to combine children’s fascination with digital cameras and their interest in nature. “Hands Off! A Digital Scavenger Hunt,” will be held Friday, July 23, from 10 am – noon at The Ridges Sanctuary in Baileys Harbor.

Each child will receive a ‘scavenger’ card of natural features to look for and photograph. After an expedition on the trails, participants will look at their results on a computer and receive a printout of their photos. Professional photographer Len Villano will be on hand to offer picture-taking tricks. Participants may bring their own camera or The Ridges will have cameras to loan.

“Hands Off! A Digital Scavenger Hunt,” is part of a series of programs called “No Family Left Inside.” These programs are designed to give parents and children the opportunity to explore nature together. The fee for each program is $10. Families must preregister with the Door County YMCA by calling 920.868.3660.
