A Few Fun Artists

Sturgeon Bay’s Greco Gallery has expanded its exhibition space and is looking to add four more member artists. “We‘re looking for artistic, charismatic, outside-the-box thinkers, doers, movers and shakers to be part of this fun family of like-minded people,” says founding member Kelly Avenson. The gallery, a collaborative effort to create, share and inspire others, has a uniquely encouraging and cooperative environment that has been nurturing and rewarding for new and experienced artists alike. It also is currently accepting artists into its guest artist and featured artist programs.

For more information on becoming part of the Greco Gallery family, call Avenson at 920.559.0504 or [email protected] with the subject line “Artist Wanted.”

One of the newest artists welcomed into Greco Gallery is Dawn Patel and her pieces from “Brilliant Stranger” – a collection of clothing, accessories, and art objects.

Greco Gallery is currently featuring Dawn Patel’s work in various media, most notably “Refab” – her line of upcycled clothing.

Brilliant Stranger began as a goofy and very curious character in Patel’s illustrated journals; she describes him as a seeker “who traveled the world looking for the answers to the existential questions in life. Through random encounters with strangers, meditations, reflection and art, he began to understand the very act of questioning was indeed what made his life meaningful.” Later it became the name of Patel’s Fish Creek shop, and now “Brilliant Stranger” encompasses a wide range of artistic endeavors, projects, and events.

For more information about Patel’s art, visit brilliantstranger.com or find her on etsy.com as either Brilliant Stranger or Dawn Patel Art.

Greco Gallery is located between the two bookstores on Sturgeon Bay’s Historic Third Avenue. The gallery is open 10 am to 5 pm Monday to Thursday; 10 am to 6 pm Friday and Saturday; and Sundays by chance. For more information call 920.743.5000 or visit grecogallerycoop.com.
