Peninsula Players Theatre presented a play reading of The Trip to Bountiful by Horton Foote at Björklunden on Feb. 3 to a full house of more than 100. The readings were produced with support and in coordination with Door County Reads and its exploration of The Memory of Old Jack by Wendell Berry.

The reading was directed by Peninsula Players Artistic Director Greg Vinkler who announced the dates for two more play readings at Björklunden on March 3 and April 7.

“In selecting our play to read in conjunction with Berry’s book, I decided to go in a direction in which memory, change, being an individual and the importance of one’s roots in one’s life (things which play an enormous role in The Memory of Old Jack) all play a part,” said Vinkler.

Vinkler announced to the crowd the next two plays on the Players play reading schedule. The Savannah Disputation a comedy by Evan Smith, slated for March 3, features two Catholic sisters in a verbal debate with a door-to-door evangelist. Slated for April 7 is Two Story House by Kathleen Thompson in which two couples share the same house, but haven’t met because they live an alternate universe. Their worlds collide when they start to catch glimpses of one another.
