A Morning in Fish Creek with Charles L. Peterson

“Good Afternoon Ladies” by Charles Peterson.

Natural light streams through the windows of Cottage Row Framing & Gallery where the whitewashed walls of the 100-year-old barn serve as a perfect backdrop for the paintings of renowned artist Charles L. Peterson. His Memorial Day weekend show opens May 25 with a “meet-the-artist reception” from 10 am – 1 pm.

A Door County resident since 1973, Peterson has established a national and international reputation for his paintings and limited edition prints. A Marietta College professor and department head for 20 years, Peterson has applied his classical training to genre painting, his brush stokes illuminating the lives of ordinary people doing ordinary things, most often in historical settings. Peterson’s interest in nature, particularly the sea, is evident in his work.

The show features a wonderful collection of more than 25 new original paintings of varying themes and sizes. Watercolor, pencil, and ink & gouache are some of the mediums Peterson has used to create this collection.

Peterson’s books, Of Time and Place and Reflections will also be available as well as his cards and a large selection of his signed and numbered limited edition prints.
