A Novel Tour

Author Rachel Wisdom of St. Louis will visit Door County June 26 – 29 for a book tour promoting her debut novel, A Shopkeeper’s Daughter.

A historical romance, the novel is based on the love story of the current King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway. The couple met in 1959 when he was the crown prince and she was a seamstress, and the relationship between the heir to the throne and a common-born shopkeeper’s daughter soon became the scandal of the century.

Wisdom, 24, began writing the novel as a freshman at Washington University in St. Louis in 2008. She spent years studying Norwegian culture and history and traveled to the region in 2010 for an extensive research trip. With family in Copenhagen, Denmark, she has long had an interest in Scandinavia and serves on the board of the Norwegian Society of St. Louis.

Wisdom will hold the following book signings:

June 26: 8 – 10 am, Grandma’s Swedish Bakery at Rowleys Bay Resort, Ellison Bay; 12:45 – 2:30 pm, Islandtime Books & More, Washington Island

June 28: 9 – 11 am, Simply Scandinavian, Gills Rock; 2 – 4 pm, The Danish Mill, Washington Island

Outside of the scheduled signings, the book is available at Barnes & Noble, Islandtime Books, and Simply Scandinavian, as well as through Amazon.com. For more information, visit ashopkeepersdaughter.com, or contact Rachel Wisdom at [email protected] or 314.809.0344.
