A Progression of Passion

Cotton Candy Sky by Jim Rossol.

Greco Gallery will hold an artist reception featuring local photographer Jim Rossol of Baileys Harbor. Greco Gallery will host the reception Aug. 14 from 5 – 7 pm. Rossol’s work will be adorning the walls of the gallery until Sept. 1.

Until Rossol retired early from a successful sales and marketing career eleven years ago, he was unable to devote the time that his latent hobby of photography deserved.

He began photography at a very early age sparked by a family trip to New York City. He took only slides back then which in retrospect he feels sharpened his composition skills, as there is no post processing in that medium.

His passion for photography intensified when he switched over from film to digital in 2007. Since then, Rossol has completed numerous photography classes at the Peninsula School of Art, The Clearing Folk School, and Bjِrklunden – Lawrence University. He continues to refine his capture and post processing workflow and strives to make images rather than just take pictures.

Rossol is an award winning fine art photographer that has exhibited at Glas Coffee, Third Avenue Playhouse Lobby Gallery, Blue Horse Bistro, YMCA Northern Door, Cornerstone Pub, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Peninsula School of Art Guenzel Gallery, The Hardy Gallery, and Door Community Auditorium’s Link Gallery. Rossol’s portfolio can be seen at jimrossol.artistwebsites.com.

Also being featured for Aug. and Sept. is renowned fine art photographer Daniel Anderson of Ellison Bay. Greco Gallery is located at 24 N 3rd Ave in Sturgeon Bay (between the two book stores); and is open Monday – Thursday, 10 – 5 pm; Friday – Saturday, 10 – 5:30 pm; and Sunday 10 – 3 pm.
