Abraham Lincoln

Perhaps it was Abraham Lincoln’s story that furthered the notion that someone from the most humble of circumstances could aspire to the highest office in the land. Born in a one-room log cabin on Feb. 12, 1809, Abraham Lincoln became the 16th president of the United States in March 1861, and was the first of four presidents to be assassinated, although there have been many more presidential assassination attempts.
