Abstract Representationalism

The Hope Church Art Alcoves Gallery welcomes Ernest Beutel as featured artist in December at the Sturgeon Bay gallery.

Beutel’s art is “abstract representationalism” – an interpretation of reality, with elements of abstraction – sometimes a reminder that life is a balance between the grotesque and the playful. Subject matter is extremely important, yet it plays second fiddle to the actual creation of art. Beutel attended Barat College in Lake Forest, Ill. and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in drawing. After six years teaching middle school art at Southern Door school, this year is a career shift to professional artist. Beutel’s work will be featured at Hope Church Art Alcoves Gallery through Christmas.

The Hope Church Art Alcoves Gallery is open whenever Hope Church is open, including regular nonholiday office hours Monday through Friday 9 am to 1 pm, after the Sunday 10:30 am worship service, and other times as well, subject to other uses such as funerals.
